A downloadable setting

A setting for tabletop roleplaying games.

Sometimes, when humans pray to things they created themselves, they tip the scales of belief just enough to create a tiny god. A little divinity. A godling.

That’s you!

Unfortunately, the actual Powers That Be didn’t sanction this. They see you as a mistake. Their Angels are coming to destroy you.

Good luck!

This setting/cosmology was created for the Tiny White Book setting jam in November-December 2025, and inspired by season three of the Play to Find Out podcast, Jenna K Moran’s Nobilis, Steve Jackson Games’ In Nomine, and the works of Terry Pratchett. (GNU Terry.)

Big thanks to all the crew at Quinns Quest; to Jenna K Moran, for all her brilliant games; to Brendan at Pony Press for organising the jam; to my partner Anna, for some great proofing, editing and hand modelling (though any mistakes are mine); and to the Quinn’s Quest Discord community.

I’m working on an expanded game based on this setting. If you want to try playing in this world, you could try hacking Nobilis third edition, In Nomine (using Ethereal rules for godlings), or Vampire: The Masquerade (replacing blood/hunger with belief).

If you try it, please let me know how it goes! And if you come up with any ideas for godlings, I’d love to hear about them, too.

Gorgeous. I saw a WIP version of this, but the finished text is amazing. As someone else said, it really feels like a stripped down take on Nobilis. I love the layout and the handwritten notes from Staple; in general this is a very pretty zine to look at.

Staple is such a nerd. "A whelk's chance in a supernova" indeed. Your writing is full of humour. I'll fold her a little origami shrine, it sounds like she needs the help.

Thanks Toph! And yeah, Staple is a nerd. But I figured as a Caine she is immersed in human culture so why wouldn’t she be?
