Ben McKenzie
Hello! I’m Ben McKenzie (he/him). I’ve been a lot of things - actor, comedian, writer, teacher, podcaster and many more. But most pertinently here, I’m a game designer. Below you’ll find some tabletop games I’ve made - mostly micro-RPGs.
Most of my older games aren't the kind you can’t put on itch.io. I was the “Game Mechanic” (lead game designer) at live games company Pop Up Playground up until it closed in 2018. You can watch a talk I did about making and running the bank heist adventure Small Time Criminals. I’ve also made tabletop and live games for education with universities, and worked on videogames as a writer, including Tin Man Games’ Table of Tales: The Crooked Crown, and (as a consultant) on Lucernal’s upcoming Little Ruin.
I’m part of the team behind time travel radio comedy Night Terrace. I currently co-host and produce the Terry Pratchett book club podcast Pratchat, and teach creative writing and broader creative concepts to tertiary creative arts students in Naarm/Melbourne.
My favourite dinosaur is Stegosaurus, and my favourite element is helium.
